Forged in Valor: The Journey of Dr. Myloreal Anderson
In the realm of martial arts and tactical training, few names command the level of respect and admiration as Dr. Myloreal Anderson. A warrior in spirit and a leader in action, Dr. Anderson has dedicated his life to the pursuit of excellence, discipline, and service. From a child honing his craft in martial arts to a global leader in tactical training, his story is a testament to resilience, honor, and the unwavering pursuit of greatness.
A Journey of Dedication
Born and raised in California, Dr. Anderson embarked on his martial arts journey at the age of four. What began as childhood training soon transformed into an unrelenting passion, pushing him to master multiple disciplines. After years of rigorous training, he founded MIKIO SURAI Martial Arts International in 2010 at just 24 years old. His vision? To create a martial arts system that honored tradition while evolving to meet modern challenges. More than 8,000 students have since passed through his doors, learning that martial arts is more than fighting—it’s a lifestyle.
His journey to excellence did not stop at martial arts. In 2015, Dr. Anderson expanded his reach by establishing T.A.F.F. Training Academy, an elite training institution dedicated to preparing civilians, law enforcement officers, and military personnel for real-world combat and tactics. His work in tactical training has saved lives, instilled confidence, and created warriors ready to defend and protect.
Defining Moments of Valor
Dr. Anderson’s recognition as a man of valor stems from both his personal and professional achievements. His induction into the Black Karate Federation Hall of Fame in 2019 and the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame in both 2016 and 2021 stand as testaments to his expertise and impact. However, it is his commitment to service that truly defines his character.
Beyond his training facilities, Dr. Anderson served in the Georgia State Defense Force, a volunteer military organization under the Department of Defense. Here, he completed his Initial Entry Training and graduated, embodying his core belief in preparedness and protection.
But the journey was not without obstacles. As a young Black martial artist and instructor in a field dominated by tradition, Dr. Anderson faced skepticism and resistance. Rather than be deterred, he leaned into the adversity, proving his worth through skill, knowledge, and an unbreakable spirit.
The Guiding Light of Mentorship
No warrior rises alone, and Dr. Anderson attributes much of his success to the mentors who shaped his path. From the disciplined guidance of martial arts grandmasters to the leadership of military figures, he drew strength from those who came before him. His reverence for these mentors is evident in the way he now guides others, ensuring that his legacy of discipline, leadership, and excellence extends to future generations.
Impacting Communities, Changing Lives
Dr. Anderson’s influence extends far beyond the dojo and training facilities. He is an active community leader, offering programs that teach self-defense, firearms safety, and personal discipline. His emphasis on holistic development—training not just the body, but the mind and soul—has empowered individuals from all walks of life.
One of the most poignant examples of his impact came from a single mother who, after completing one of his training programs, found the confidence and skill to protect her family. It is stories like these that fuel his mission, reminding him that the principles like strength, discipline, and resilience shape lives.
The Code of a Man of Valor

When asked about the values that guide him, Dr. Anderson speaks of honor, discipline, and service. He believes that true valor is not about aggression, but about the ability to stand firm in the face of adversity, to lead with integrity, and to serve humility. His commitment to these values is evident in every aspect of his life, from his training programs to his role as a police lieutenant.
For young men aspiring to walk the path of valor, Dr. Anderson offers clear advice: “Master yourself first. Leadership begins within. Train your body, sharpen your mind, and cultivate your spirit. Strength is meaningless without wisdom, and power is hollow without purpose.”
A Vision for the Future
Dr. Anderson’s journey is far from over. His vision for the future includes expanding MIKIO SURAI Martial Arts and T.A.F.F. Training Academy to reach even more individuals across the globe. He aims to build a new generation of warriors—not just in combat, but in life. Whether through tactical training, leadership development, or community outreach, his mission remains steadfast: to empower, protect, and lead.
To the readers of UN Men of Valor Magazine, Dr. Anderson leaves this final message: “Valor is not a moment of bravery—it is a lifetime of commitment. Whatever your battlefield may be, stand firm, train hard, and lead with honor. The world needs more warriors of character.”
